ಸಾಹಿತಿ ಹ.ಕ.ರಾಜೇಗೌಡ ಅವರು ಬರೆದಿರುವ ಲೇಖನದಲ್ಲಿ ಟಿಪ್ಪುವಿನ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಉರಿಗೌಡ ಮತ್ತು ದೊಡ್ಡ ನಂಜೇಗೌಡ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಹಲವರು ಹೈದರಾಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ಟಿಪ್ಪುವಿನ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಸೆಟೆದು ನಿಂತಿದ್ದರು. ಟಿಪ್ಪು ಆಡಳಿತದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಸಲ್ಮಾನರನ್ನೇ ನೇಮಿಸಿದ್ದು, ರ‍್ಷಿಯನ್‌ ಭಾಷೆಯನ್ನು ಆಡಳಿತ ಭಾಷೆಯಾಗಿ ಘೋಷಣೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದು ಇವರಿಗೆ ಸಿಟ್ಟು ತರಿಸಿತ್ತು. ಟಿಪ್ಪುವಿನ ಧರ‍್ಮಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಭಾಷಾ ನೀತಿಯ ಕಾರಣದಿಂದ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಆತನ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಸೆಟೆದು ನಿಂತಿದ್ದರು ಎಂದು ಉಲ್ಲೇಖಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಮಂಡ್ಯ : ಟಿಪ್ಪು ಸುಲ್ತಾನ್‌ನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಬಿಂಬಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿರುವ ಉರಿಗೌಡ, ದೊಡ್ಡನಂಜೇಗೌಡರ ಕುರಿತು ಸುವರ್ಣ ಮಂಡ್ಯ ಪುಸ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಉಲ್ಲೇಖವಾಗಿರುವುದು ಬೆಳಕಿಗೆ ಬಂದಿದೆ. ಮಂಡ್ಯ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆ ಸುವರ್ಣ ಮಹೋತ್ಸವದ ಪ್ರಯುಕ್ತ ದೇ.ಜವರೇಗೌಡ ಅವರ ಸಂಪಾದಕತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊರ ತಂದಿರುವ ಸುವರ್ಣ ಮಂಡ್ಯ ಪುಸ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಉಲ್ಲೇಖವಿದೆ. 2006ರಲ್ಲಿ ಮಂಡ್ಯ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ಕನ್ನಡ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಪರಿಷತ್ತು ಹೊರತಂದಿರುವ ಪುಸ್ತಕವಿದು.

ಈ ಅಂಶವನ್ನು ಹೊರತುಪಡಿಸಿದಂತೆ ಉರಿಗೌಡ ಮತ್ತು ದೊಡ್ಡನಂಜೇಗೌಡ ಅವರು ಟಿಪ್ಪುವನ್ನು ಹತ್ಯೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು ಎಂಬ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಉಲ್ಲೇಖ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಜೊತೆಗೆ, ಟಿಪ್ಪುವಿನ ಪತನದ ನಂತರ ಇದೇ ಗೌಡರು ಬ್ರಿಟಿಷರ ವಿರುದ್ಧವೂ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದು ಕಂಡು ಬಂದಿದೆ.
ಪುಸ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ ದಾಖಲಾಗಿರುವ ಉಲ್ಲೇಖ ಕುರಿತಂತೆ ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯಿಸಿರುವ ಸಾಹಿತಿ ಜಗದೀಶ್‌ ಕೊಪ್ಪ ಅವರು, ಹ.ಕ.ರಾಜೇಗೌಡ ಅವರು ನನ್ನ ಗುರುಗಳು. ಸುವರ್ಣ ಮಂಡ್ಯ ಪುಸ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಉರಿಗೌಡ ಮತ್ತು ದೊಡ್ಡ ನಂಜೇಗೌಡ ಕುರಿತು ದಾಖಲಿಸಿರುವ ಅಂಶದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ನಾನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಮನವರಿಕೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಪುಸ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ ತಪ್ಪಾಗಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಕೊನೆಯ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.

ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು: ರಾಜಕೀಯವಾಗಿ ತೀವ್ರ ಚರ್ಚೆಗೆ ಗ್ರಾಸವಾಗಿರುವ ‘ಉರಿಗೌಡ, ನಂಜೇಗೌಡ’ ಎಂಬ ಶೀರ್ಷಿಕೆಯ ಸಿನಿಮಾ ಮುಹೂರ್ತವು ಮೇ 18ರಂದು ನೆರವೇರಲಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಚಿತ್ರ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಸಚಿವ ಮುನಿರತ್ನ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ಇಬ್ಬರೂ ಟಿಪ್ಪು ಸುಲ್ತಾನ್‌ ಅವರನ್ನು ಹತ್ಯೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಲಾಗಿರುವ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಚಿತ್ರವು ಮಹತ್ವ ಪಡೆದುಕೊಂಡಿದೆ.

In an article written by Sahitya H.K.Rajegowda, many people including Urigowda and Dodda Nanjegowda stood against Hyderali and Tipu during Tipu's time. Tipu appointed Muslims in the administration and declared Persian language as the official language which angered him. It is mentioned that the two were pitted against Tipu because of his religious and linguistic policies.
Mandya: It has come to light that there is a reference in Suvarna Mandya book about Urigowda and Dodnanjegowda who are portrayed as having killed Tipu Sultan. There is a reference to this in the Suvarna Mandya book brought out under the editorship of De.Javaregowda on the occasion of Mandya District Golden Jubilee. This is a book brought out by Mandya District Kannada Sahitya Parishad in 2006.

Apart from this point there is no mention anywhere that Urigowda and Dodnanjegowda assassinated Tipu. Besides, after the fall of Tipu, these same Gaudas are found to have worked against the British as well.
Literary Jagdish Koppa and H.K.Rajegowda are my teachers who have commented on the reference recorded in the book. I convinced him about the facts recorded in the Suvarna Mandya book about Urigowda and the great Nanjegowda. In his last days he admitted that the book was wrong.
Movie Muhurta on May 18!
Bengaluru: Minister Munirathna, who is producing the film, has said that the muhurta of the politically hotly debated film titled 'Uri Gowda, Nanje Gowda' will be completed on May 18. This film has gained importance in the background that these two are said to have assassinated Tipu Sultan.
He has tweeted in this regard, 'The muhurta of the film 'Uri Gowda, Nanje Gowda' based on historical events produced by our Vrishabhadri Production will be held on May 18 at Kantheerava Studio. Presented by Revenue Minister R. Ashok and BJP National General Secretary CT Ravi, the film is directed by RS Gowda and has a script by Higher Education Minister Dr. C. N. Ashwathtanarayan.
